George Foreman GGR50B Indoor/ Electric Outdoor Grill
I bought this electric outdoor grill 4 months ago and have used it several times per week ever since. I am a very lazy cook with 3 hungry teens and a hubby who eats like he’s a heavyweight boxer. So, I needed something that would cook and clean-up as easily as possible. I can turn on the electric outdoor grill (it has an adjustable thermostat), take out a package of frozen chicken, hamburger patties, whatever, prepare it as usual, and the electric outdoor is ready to go to work. Dinner is on the table in no time. Its non-stick surface is just that, making clean-up simple and quick.
I am quite happy with the surface area, as I can easily fit 8 large burgers on at once. I live in the frozen north, so the fact that this electric outdoor grill will also work indoors is plus.
It’s portable, reliable, easy to use and clean, and a bargain compared to other electric outdoor grills.
George put his name on a very good product.
Update: I have owned this electric outdoor grill for 2 1/2 years now and it still works like new!
Char-Broil Patio Caddie Electric Outdoor Grill
The complex we lived in did not allow open flame on the balcony, which ruled out both gas and charcoal grills. I opted for this Char-Broil electric grill, based on the reviews I read here on Amazon.
Positives: This electric outdoor grill really did a nice job cooking, in general. You really should read the directions; you need to leave the lid on and regulate the thermostat as directed in the manual. That being said, I grilled veggies, fish, burgers, steaks and chicken with great success on this electric outdoor grill. Because of the steady electric heating, I can cook my steaks and burgers to a *perfect* medium (pink (not red) and warm throughout, but with a brown, crispy crust) with little effort.
Negatives: You *must* keep the electric outdoor grill clean and ceramic briquettes changed (especially if you use it frequently!) to avoid grease fires (see other reviews). The briquettes are easily available through your local Sears.
When you lift the lid, temperature drops quickly. You should have a heavy-duty GFI outdoor outlet to plug this into, which all apartments don’t have. Assembly is a bit confusing until you decipher the Ikea-inspired assembly instructions.
Bottom Line: This is a really good electric outdoor grill if you are in a situation where you can’t use open flame. With a little patience and attention to the instructions, you can get results that are on par with a regular gas grill.
